Faribault Falcons junior goalie Jake Dolter was 55 seconds away from his second shutout of the season in a 2-1 Falcon victory over Red Wing tonight.  The game was played in Faribault and featured a number of penalties.  7 against Faribault and 8 against Red Wing.

The Wingers pulled their goalie late to help get their only score of the game.  Dolter had 34 saves to improve his record to 6-2 and the Falcons are 3-3-1 in the Big 9, 9-4-1 overall.  Red Wing is 1-4 in the league and 4-9 overall.   Dolter, Owen Williamson, Zach Slinger and Leighton Weasler were our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game.

Slinger scored both goals for Faribault and now has 16 goals to lead the team.  Weasler notched his team leading 11th assist on the first goal which was a power play tally and the second goal was unassisted.  The first came 6 minutes into the second period and the second was scored 12:46 of third period.

Red Wing came out and dominated the first period thanks in large part to the Falcons having someone in the penalty box for six minutes of the period.  The Wingers had 14 shots and Faribault 4.  Second period shots were 9 each with Faribault experiencing a two man advantage twice but not scoring on those opportunities.  Red Wing outshot Faribault 12-8 in the third period.

The Falcons don't play again until January 19th when they host the Owatonna Huskies. The Wingers have Mankato East in Red Wing Saturday and go to Owatonna Thursday.
