The Faribault Falcons led most of Saturday's game against the Northfield Raiders but it's the final score that counts.  Northfield began trapping the Falcons and converting turnovers into points to take a lead in the final minutes of the game and finished with a 39-33 victory.

The Falcons played very well in the first half and had a 17-10 lead at halftime, forcing the Raiders into more turnovers (11) than points.

However Faribault was unable to turn many of the turnovers into points which proved to be the difference in the game.

Senior Grace Amacher had 9 of her 15 points for Faribault in the first half and junior Abby Ryn tallied 8 points in the game.

Northfield was lead by 6'1 senior post Annalee Olson-Sola with 10 points off the bench, 5'9 senior Grace Touchette added all 9 of her points in the second half and 6'0 junior Rachel Kelly collected 8 points.

The Falcons were 6 of 10 from the free throw line and Northfield was 4 of 6 from the charity stripe.

The difference proved to be points off turnovers with each team committing 16 turnovers in the game.   Northfield scored 11 points and Faribault 5 off those turnovers.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game were Amacher and Rachel Hanson.  Hanson had 6 points and forced a number of the turnovers while guarding Touchette much of the game.

Northfield's bench outscored Faribault 16-0.

The Raiders are now 15-2 and remain unbeaten in the Big Nine while Faribault falls to 8-9 overall.

The Falcons started the season on a roll and were in the state rankings the first month of the season but injuries took their toll during a six game losing streak.  It appears they are back with wins over state ranked Mankato West and Rochester Mayo recently.  The Spartans had a six game winning streak snapped by Faribault.

The Falcons host Winona Tuesday and the game will be on POWER 96 Radio, 95.9 FM.  www.power96radio.com.  or download the FREE Radio Pup app and listen on your favorite mobile device.  You can also download the POWER 96 Radio app and listen wherever you go with a tap of the app available in your app store.
