The Faribault Gardening Club group G.R.O.W.S. (Gardeners Reaching Out With Service) annual plant sale is today in Central Park.  It goes until Noon and we stopped by to see a number of plants and people enjoying the beautiful morning.  There's a great opportunity for the kids or grandchildren too with the bee head picture.

This morning the gardening group had the bee head cut out next to a table with information about being helping our pollinators survive.  G.R.O.W.S. first met on April 14, 1994 as a horticulture club with a mission of beautifying the city of Faribault.  They take care of a number of gardens in parks across the city.  They were planting a new pollinator-friendly garden around a tree stump this morning.

Membership dues are $5.00.  On of their first projects was a butterfly garden at River Bend Nature Center.  There are currently about 40 members and everyone is welcome to join.  In addition to the dues the other requirement is a commitment of  some hours of community service (weeding and maintaining gardens in city parks).

The group meets March through October on the second Monday of each month at the Faribault Area Senior Center.

The plant sale is typically held in the Senior Center parking lot but due to construction this year was moved to Central Park.

I told our guests on AM Minnesota from the group earlier this month they might enjoy the Central Park location better.  I think some of them did, with plants right on the boulevard it worked very well and they could show off some of their gardens in Central Park.  Plants range in price from 50 cents to four dollars depending on it's size.
