Faribault Emeralds Place Third in State AA High Kick

The Faribault Emeralds Dance Team placed third in Class AA High Kick at the 2018 State Girls' Dance Team Tournament in St. Paul.  The Falcons also qualified to compete in Jazz but did not make the finals.

Seniors Emma Winkelman and Nicole Colegrove were selected for the Class AA All-Tournament High Kick Team.  Each team in the finals nominates two dancers for the honor.  Sartell-St. Stephen repeated as Class AA High Kick State Champs.  The Sabres captured their 4th title overall.  Also winning in 2011 and 2015.

Totino-Grace, Fridley was 2nd, St. Cloud Cathedral 4th, Austin 5th and Benilde St. Margaret's 6th.

In Class AAA High Kick Eastview of Apple Valley won their third straight and 11th overall title.  Wayzata was 2nd and Lakeville North 3rd.  The remaining teams were Anoka, Chaska and Prior Lake.

In Class A High Kick the Frazee Fly won their first dance title with four time defending champion Aitkin finishing third.  Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd placed 2nd, Yellow Medicine East, Granite Falls was 4th and BOLD, Olivia 6th.

Cannon Falls was fifth in the High Kick competition with Kendra Lecy and Brooke Kimmes chosen for the Class A High Kick All-Tournament Team.

In Jazz defending champion Aitkin finished fifth with the Frazee Fly winning their second title.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa was third and Nikolina Bryant and Madeline Lawler were chosen for the Class A Jazz All-Tournament Team.

Lac qui Parl Valle/Dawson-Boyd placed second.  Yellow Medicine East, Granite Falls was 4th and Marshall School, Duluth 6th.

The Benilde-St. Margaret's Knightettes notched their second straight Class AA title and 9th overall.

The other six finishers were, in order:  Totino-Grace, Fridley, Sartell-St. Stephen, Mound Westonka, St. Cloud Cathedral and South St. Paul.

The Class AAA Jazz Champions are the Wayzata Trojets with their seventh crown.  Eastview, Apple Valley was 2nd, Maple Grove 3rd, Edina 4th, Lakeville North 5th and Prior Lake 6th.

Elizabeth Gust and Nina Roepke were Lakeville North choices for the AAA Jazz All-Tournament team and Taylor Hallum and Abby Kisch represented Eastview.
