The Faribault Falcon football team evened their season record while dominating the Red Wing Wingers 41-0 in the Falcon home opener Friday night.

The field was in very good shape despite all the rain and Faribault showed their superiority on the very first offensive series.

The Falcons received the opening kick and marched 65 yards on eight plays with the drive ending in a untouched Felipe Ramirez 4-yard run into the end zone.

Faribault was so dominate most of their starters didn't play in the second half because they were ahead 35-0 at halftime. Ramirez would run for two more scores in the first half - two 5-yard touchdown runs.

Quarterback Kade Hart had a keeper cap off a 64-yard drive and threw a 7-yard touchdown to Cody Ehlers.

My unofficial statistics had the Falcons with 321 yards of total offense in the first half: 204 on the ground and 117 through the air.

Hart was seven of nine in the first half for 117 yards and a score; in addition to his 1-yard keeper for a score he had a very nice 54-yard run in Faribault's second-quarter onslaught.

Faribault finished the night with 485 total offensive yards: 301 rushing and 184 passing. Again these are my unofficial statistics.

Backup junior quarterback Dylan Vargo looked good in the third quarter, connecting on a beautiful spiral to junior Sam Schendel for a 60-yard touchdown. Vargo was two for three for 67 yards.

Sophomore Mitchell Nelson also saw some significant fourth-quarter time at quarterback when the game was in running time. Nelson did not attempt a pass.

Senior Henry Sanchez was unblockable in the first half and was one of our State Farm Insurance Faribault Agents Jason Krohn and Tony Langerud players of the game. I also chose the entire starting offensive line of Sam Jasinski, Derek Leroy, Hunter Gare, Connor Leet and Christian Weber. Felipe Ramirez and Kade Hart rounded out the State Farm players of the game for Faribault in the lopsided affair.

Owatonna comes to Bruce Smith Field next Friday night.

The game will be broadcast on Power 96, 95.9FM and can be heard online at www.power96radio.com by clicking the Listen Live button or download the free Radio Pup app on your favorite mobile device.

You can watch the game on FCTV also.
