Faribault City Council member Steve Underdahl has announced a decision to file for District 4 County Commissioner.  Filings open Tuesday and in a news release Underdahl says, "Next week I will officially file for the office."  Underdahl is currently serving his fourth term on the Faribault City Council and states in his news release that, "It has been an honor and privilege to hold this office.  Seeking the District 4 seat will allow me to represent the broader Faribault community including Wells Township and Rice County.  I have spent much of my elected office promoting economic development for Faribault and the region.  As District 4 Commissioner I will continue this effort at another level working to attract business and jobs to Rice County."

Underdahl cites his two decades plus of experience in city government as an asset to the office saying the have, "Given me a wealth of knowledge that will serve District 4 effectively.  My experience, knowledge and strong leadership skills as a City Council Member will provide a solid foundation to represent District 4."  Underdahl's current term expires December 2020.

Rice County Commissioner District 4 includes Faribault Precinct 1, Faribault Precinct 4, and Wells Township.

Current District 4 Commissioner Steve Bauer has served since 2005 and told KDHL POWER 96 he, "Is not going to run for another term."  Bauer enjoyed his 14 years but said it's time for, "Some new blood."

Filings open for all offices Tuesday, May 22, 2018 and close at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018.  The County Auditor/Treasurer's Office will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2018 in observance of Memorial Day.
