The Faribault Falcons had two champions and a second place finish to qualify three individuals for the individual portion of the State Wrestling Tournament this week in St. Paul.  The Section 1AAA Tournament schedule was moved up a bit to get people home sooner Saturday in anticipation of a winter storm.

Senior Cain Van Ryn placed second at 138 pounds to qualify for the State Tournament and Section Champions senior Austin Rendler at 220 and junior Dillon McEachran will also participate at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The future does look bright for Faribault with a number of young grapplers getting close to a state trip.

  • 170 Dylan Lippert, sophomore, 3rd
  • 182 Josh Heyda, junior  3rd
  • 195 Ethan Erickson, junior, 4th
  • 145 Josh Oathoudt, sophomore, 4th

The Northfield Raiders have three entrants.  Eighth grader Jake Messner is the Section 1AAA 113 pound champion. sophomores Drew Woodley the 120 pound champion and Ethan Johnson the 145 pound champion

Owatonna has five state entrants.  106 pound freshman Blake West was second in the Section meet in Rochester.  Senior Payton Robb is the 160 pound champion, senior Parker Westphal was the 170 pound second place finisher and junior Cade King is the 182 pound champion.  Junior Nicholas Staska finished second at 195 pounds.

Farmington state entrants are 126 pound Section 1AAA Champion junior Trayton Anderson and 132 pound runner-up sophomore Luke Peterson.  182 pound second place finisher sophomore MacAron Kukowski.
