When the rains hit April 21 in Mankato, the Faribault Falcons trailed the Class 3A No.1-rated Mankato West Scarlets 4-1.

The softball game was resumed and finished Monday evening and Faribault played the Scarlets tough, blanking them the rest of the way. Mankato West won however 4-2.

The game was resumed in the top of the third. Faribault led the game after the top of the first 1-0.

Falcon centerfielder Alison Shack walked to start the game and scored on an RBI single by Bre Bresnahan.

After two outs in the bottom of the first, the Scarlets got back to back-to-back singles resulting in a run.

Faribault had a error, which would have been the third out, and then a two-RBI single was ripped with a runner thrown out at third base to end the inning and Mankato West led 3-0.

The Scarlets added their only other run again with two outs in the second inning with a single and a double.

The top-rated Scarlets did not score Monday over their last four innings of at bats.

The Falcons proved they can play with anybody and, with a very young team, the future definitely looks bright for Faribault.
