Falcons Can’t Get A Break In Loss To Mayo
It took until 50 seconds left in the first quarter before someone got on the board in the Falcons' season opening loss to Rochester Mayo 29-16 on Friday night in Rochester.
Caleb Marris caught a 45-yard pass from Trajan Grimsrud to open things up. Jake McCabe kicked the extra point and it was 7-0. After the Falcons had a failed drive in the second, Marris caught another pass from Grimsrud, this time for 12 yards, McCabe kicked again and it was 14-0. One of our State Farm Insurance agents of Faribault players of the game, Ryan Teske, recovered a fumbled punt and the offense got moving, setting up a Joe Jackson TD run and Ramirez caught the two-point conversion pass from Kade Hart to make it 14-8. In the third, Israel Lozoya scored on a 24-yard run and they got the two-pointer to make it 22-8. Then Malik Franklin got a 54-yard touchdown in the fourth to make it 29-8 with McCabe's kick. The Falcons got their last TD on the board after a quarterback keeper from Kade Hart from a yard out and Ramirez got the two-pointer, to make it 29-16.
I think the Falcons' offensive line will really need to work on getting Kade some more protection so he has a little more time to get the job done.
Kade Hart was 12-21 for 134 yards passing and one interception. Philippe Ramirez 24 carries for 136 yards. Joe Jackson 10 carries for 38 and a TD.
Falcons host Red Wing at Bruce Smith Field on Friday night.
