The Mankato West Scarlets scored four goals in the first period after Faribault collected the first of the game and cruised to a 8-2 win in Mankato on Saturday.

Faribault senior Connor Lipinski scored 4:19 into first period to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Assists on the goal went to senior Anthony Simons and junior Ryan Teske.

Mankato West had 23 shots in the first period and finished with 59 while Faribault had just 11 shots on goal.

The Falcons were 0 for 2 and the Scarlets 2 for 5 on the power play.

Mankato West's Kyle Looft had a hat trick and five players scored for the Scarlets.

Mankato West lived in the Falcon zone with shots on goal by period 23-5, 22-4 and 14-2.

In other boys hockey Saturday, Owatonna blanked Rochester Century 4-0, New Prague shut out Northfield 4-0, Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter cruised past Worthington 8-0, Farmington edged Eagan 2-1, Tartan defeated Rochester Lourdes 6-3, Holy Family Catholic blanked Lakeville South 4-0, Apple Valley downed Simley 6-1 and Eastview rolled over East Ridge 6-2.
