The Faribault Falcon boys basketball team made the long trip to Winona on Tuesday night and had a happy bus ride home after a 64-49 win.

Head coach Lance Walsten is most impressed by his team's physical play, citing about 12 charges his team has taken in their first three games.

Five-foot-9 junior Bidong Tut had to log extra minutes in the first half due to foul trouble for 6-foot-4 senior T.J. Hunt and led the Falcons in scoring in the half with 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Faribault led at the half 27-25 thanks in large part to five three-point baskets.

Six-foot-8 senior Kade Hart has been battling mono, limiting his minutes in the first two games of the season, but poured in 16 second-half points and finished with 22 points to lead all players in the game.

Hunt added 17 points and was 11 of 12 from the free throw line. Faribault ended the game 13 of 16 from the charity stripe.

The Winhawks had double-digit turnovers in the second half and the Falcons were able to capitalize on many of those to pull away.
