The Faribault Falcon boys basketball team trailed 8-0 to start the game in Rochester on Tuesday night and fought their way back to a 32-30 halftime deficit. In the end, the Mayo Spartans persevered 69-67 on their senior night.

Senior Dan Jech, 6-foot-9, led the way with 21 points, including four three-pointers. The Spartans tallied 10 threes in the game and Faribault had nine. The difference was at the free throw line, with Mayo scoring 13 points and Faribault six from the charity stripe.

Falcon sophomore Kade Hart collected 16 of his 22 points in the second half, 6-foot-1 junior Brady Combs had 11 of his 16 in the first half and 6-foot-2 junior Winfield Hunter added nine. The trio were named the Faribault State Farm Insurance Agents Faribault players of the game.

Faribault had just a handful of turnovers in the game and scored 12 points off Mayo turnovers. The Falcons are 7-14 in the Big Nine and 11-14 overall. The loss means they won't finish the regular season with a .500 record.

Rochester Mayo is 11-10 in the conference and 13-11 overall and snapped a four-game losing streak. Faribault finishes their regular season against Northfield at home Friday night.
