Faribault Falcon senior Chase Ernste saw his first varsity game action since being injured in a car accident during football season.

He entered the Falcon boys basketball game Saturday against Mankato East in the first half and all Faribault fans gave him a standing ovation, students and adults. It was awesome!

Unfortunately, Mankato East won the foul-infested affair 70-59.

There were more fouls in this game then you find in an area turkey (fowls) barn.

It really was not that physical a game, but Faribault had two players foul out and numerous players from both teams finished the game with four fouls.

Mankato East was 27 of 43 from the free throw line and Faribault was 17 of 30.

Mankato East raced out to a 34-20 halftime lead and Faribault whittled it down to near single digits a couple of times, including near the four-minute mark.

I've always believed when you get a game to single digits at the four-minute mark it's a  game that's within reach for the team trailing.

Our State Farm Insurance Agents Jason Krohn and Tony Langerud players of the game were Kade Hart, Cody Ehlers and Chase Ernste.

Hart led the team in scoring with 16 points, Ehlers added 11 points off the bench and had all his points in the second half, and Ernste pitched in 7 points and gave the Falcons the toughness they've been seeking in the paint.

Faribault has a couple of tough games ahead. They will host Owatonna on Tuesday and the game will be on Power 96 Radio. Then Friday they host Winona.
