The rain Tuesday night will put a stop to harvest for at least a couple of days, but I find myself thinking it could have been worse. We had rain gauge reports from the Faribault area of around 1 inch. Farther south and southeast the rain was much heavier. At my farm I had 1.5 inches and just a little farther south 2-3 inches. We have been fortunate that the fields really dried out after the heavy rains in September. I did notice when I was combining that my tile lines were not running.

Maybe I am being optimistic, but with some sunshine Thursday and Friday I am hoping we can be back combining corn by Friday afternoon. As I drive around our listening area there are very few bean fields left and I would guess corn harvest is 60-70 percent done. Let's hope the fields dry quickly and we finish the 2016 harvest, get the tillage done and look forward to the 2017 crop!
