Faribault Fire Chief Dusty Dienst joined our 8:05am report on KDHL and noted an alert Faribault Police Officer driving through the back alley in the 400 block of Central spotted the smoke coming from the back of the Mexican Bakery at 409 Central just after 2am.  The State Fire Marshall is on the scene trying to determine the cause.  The Bakery was extensively damaged and there was some smoke in the empty former B&B Sporting Goods Building to the south and Chappuis Jewelers to the north.  Nate Chappuis told KDHL this morning the fire department deserves a lot of credit for limiting the extensive damage to the one building, but said his heart was "broken" for the owner of the bakery.  We'll have more details when they become available.
