Fans of Marvel's favorite sorcerer/doctor 'Doctor Strange' series have been eagerly anticipating a big screen take on the classic character for entire years, but now that film is officially set to slip into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's time the studio started getting down to business and thinking about how to fold magic into their muscle-heavy franchise. Where and how is the magic man going to fit into the lineup? And how exactly is his story going to be told in a way that still works with all the other balls Marvel has up in the air?

Speaking to a small group of press during Comic-Con 2014, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained how the studio envisions bringing the sorcerer to the big screen for a massive and decidedly different origin story, sharing:

It is a classic Marvel origin story, because he's got one of the best origins ever, and it's our opportunity to take that left turn into the supernatural. Now what is the definition of 'supernatural'? It varies. We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions, and Strange, in the very sort of Ditko, crazy acid-trip way of traveling through dimensions and traveling through realms, is something that we think is very, very cool -- playing with perceptions of reality.

Just how weird are things going to get with the good doctor, then? Turns out, the whole thing might be pretty trippy. Feige went on to say:

I just watched the 'Cosmos' series, the Neil deGrasse Tyson 'Cosmos' series, which is amazing, and which is, might as well be an acid trip. ... It is a mind-bending -- and it's all based in physics and based in quantum mechanics, and we're gonna play a lot with the notion of that as an explanation of how the sorcerers do what they do.

So, scientific and mind-bending? That certainly sounds appropriately Strange.
