I was born and raised on the north side of Minneapolis. Got my start in radio at a Mom and Pop radio station in Aitkin, Minn., where I started out as the night DJ/janitor and went on to become Program/Sports Director for an AM/FM Combo. After a break in radio for a bit, came here in December 2006. Went on to afternoons in 2007; did early mornings from 2008-2013. And have hosted the morning news hours and done the midday show since then. I am a big Twins and Vikings fan
Meet the DJs
I was born in the turkey capital of the world - Worthington, Minn. - which explains a lot about me. After graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1977, I attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis to begin my radio dream. After jobs in Desoto, Mo.; Ottumwa, Iowa; North Platte, Neb.; Des Moines, Iowa; and Rochester, Minn.; I arrived at KDHL on June 1, 1987, as the News and Program Director. After Ingstad Broadcasting purchased KDHL/KQCL, I was the News Director exclusively
I grew up on a crop and dairy farm in Southern Minnesota. After graduating from Wells Easton High School I attended the University Of Minnesota and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education. After graduation I returned to operate the family farm consisting of 600 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, sweet corn, peas and 100 dairy cows. In fall 1995, after 18 years, I traded the milking parlor for a radio microphone and became a Farm Broadcaster
I enjoy a wide genre of music, including country, and a lot of classic rock! I am an 80's baby too! I love all 80's music especially! Of the radio stations that I have worked at over the years, I believe our stations have the most loyal following, and our listeners are the best! Thanks for listening online and on the air! Every since I can remember, I have always wanted to be on the radio. When I was a little kid I used tape record myself introducing songs and interviewing people (like my parents). But like most childhood dreams...they are just that...dreams. As time went on I found a different career path, but radio was never far from my mind. During the early 90's I had a show on cable radio and volunteered for KLOS in Los Angeles and got to work with Mark and Brian and Remy Maxwell
Hi! I’m Kelly! I have been part of the team since 2008 and prior to that I worked for a small town radio station and had a college radio show. I’m a Faribault High School grad and hold a bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota Morris. When I’m not working, I love spending time with family and friends, walking my dog, cheering for the Twins, and taking in as much live music as I can. Thanks for listening!
