I waited in line awhile along with scores of people for the open-pit chicken and ham dinner at Divine Mercy's Spirit Fest on Sunday.

It was well worth the wait. Mick White and his crew outdid themselves. The meal last year was awesome also, but the strawberry shortcake dessert was the perfect capping to a scrumptious meal.

I got my dinner to go so I could watch the Vikings from the comfort of my living room recliner.

It's called Spirit Fest: A Family Festival and it was awesome seeing people of all ages on the grounds of Divine Mercy Catholic Church.

There were games for the kids, young and teens alike. There was entertainment with professional musicians performing.

There was bingo and Spanish bingo, and a variety of food was for sale on the grounds. The beer garden had a flat screen television so people wouldn't miss the Vikings game.

The weather was perfect and I noticed a lot of smiles.

Getting back to the line for the meal.

You have no doubt heard the saying, "The Lord works in mysterious ways."

That's how I view Spirit Fest. It's a mission field of life. Just like any church, there are people there in various faith journeys from the very devoted to possibly unbelieving.

I have to say as corny as this is going to sound, that wait in line for my chicken and ham dinner was a great moving of the Holy Spirit without the discussion of Jesus in our lives.

I visited with some people in line and people eating as I went by the tables and talked to another person waiting for meals to go because his wife was working and his family wanted to bring her a meal and eat with her on her lunch break.

The Holy Spirit moves throughout our daily lives. Not just in church and not just while performing religious duties.

It can be a simple hug when someone is hurting or serving a hearty meal to someone in need.

Many of the people I visited with were Lutherans like me and we were all welcomed with smiles by Divine Mercy Catholic Church workers.

I left the church carrying my meal to my vehicle to go home with a smile on my face. When I got inside my vehicle I said a little prayer of thanks for the wait in line for my meal.

For me, the wait was as much of a blessing as the meal.

That's why in my mind, Spirit Fest was another success.
