One of the things I really enjoy about the holiday season is all the beautifully decorated homes. No matter where you go, you're going to see houses light up in celebration of Christmas. I really like seeing them all, from the simple and basic couple of strings of lights to the overblown houses with a ton of lights and figures all over the yard. Somewhere in between that is the Hoban/Spence Christmas Light Show at 4531 197th Street East, it's just a couple miles outside of town just past the old Andrews Nursery and well worth the drive.

Their yard and house are lit up with a variety of lights that move in sync with the music that they broadcast over your car stereo. They offer a nice selection of season-appropriate songs and my granddaughters were thrilled when "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen came on and the lights really put on a great show. We usually make several trips out there to experience the lights and music. I find it very mesmerizing and relaxing.

I believe their hours are 5-10PM. They have a circular drive, make sure you use only your parking lights once you enter and be respectful of their property. The radio frequency that they broadcast the music on is posted at the entrance. I usually find a good spot to watch the lights and pull off to the side so that other vehicles can get by. Just a word of warning, there's not much of a shoulder along the road so it's much safer to watch it from the driveway.
