The American Farm Bureau Federation's (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers YF&R) Conference is being held in Reno, Nevada. At the Conference Trent Dado who is a student at the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities finished in the top 16 in the YF&R Discussion Meet. . Daldo advanced to the AFBF contest after capturing first place at the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation's (MFBF) Discussion Meet in November. Runner up AJ Quade who is attending Ridgewater College was the runner-up and also competed in the National Contest.

Contestants in the Discussion Meet are "judged in their basic knowledge of critical farm issues, and their ability to exchange ideas and information in a setting aimed at cooperative problem solving." Dado and Quade competed against 57 other college students from around the United States. There were two rounds on Saturday and the top 16 qualified for the Sweet 16 round on Sunday.
