The Voice alumni Craig Wayne Boyd says Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have played a huge role in his career thus far.

The artist started on Shelton’s team during Season 7, but when Shelton had to let him go, he was saved by Team Gwen. Eventually Boyd ended up back on Team Blake and won the competition, but the newcomer says both of their influences made a big difference in his career.

"I think it was important because of our likeness in styles of music. His crowd bring fans to mine. But Gwen did really open things up to me, understanding that more people than what I thought were my demographic," Boyd tells Sarasota's Herald-Tribune.

During his time on the show, Boyd says he never noticed any "romantic chemistry" between Stefani and Shelton, who are now officially, and publicly, dating after both divorcing from famous spouses.

“They must have hid it very well,” he admits.

Boyd recently added a new member to his family, a new baby daughter — his second child with his fiancée Taylor Borland. The country singer released a hit single (“My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,”) after being crowned The Voice winner and plans on releasing a single independently in 2016, having pursued legal action to get out of his record deal. He also recently released a cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and opened for the Rascal Flatts in their Vegas residency.
