If in the past you have participated in any USDA programs like the Farm Bill, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) EQUIP program, or put corn or beans under the CCC loan program just to name a few, you should have received a ballot from your local County Farm Service Agency office for the committee election. That is unless your Local Adminstrative Area or LAA terms are not up for election.

The County Committee elections are structured so that one-third of the committee are up for election each year. This way there will be some continuity on the committee. The FSA County Committee oversees the local Farm Service Office. They are required to follow the guidelines of the Farm Bill and USDA but there is room for local interpretation. In addition they settle disputes that may arise. That means it is important to have good people on the local FSA Comty Committee. If you have any questions, contact your local Farm Service Agency office.
