County Farm Service Agency (FSA) elections are underway. County FSA committee members are local farmers link between the agricultural community and the USDA. They have an important positions on the local FSA committee as many USDA programs do have some flexibility. Therefore it is important that committee members are involved in agriculture production, are well informed and involved in their communities. Most important of all they should be good listeners and have common sense.

Each county is divided up into Local Administrative Areas or LAA's. This is designed so that one third of each county is up for election each year. Therefore there is some experience or continuity on the FSA committee. County committee election ballots will be mailed to eligible voters in the LAA on November 6, 2017. The last day to return filled out ballots to your local FSA office is December 4, 2017. If you would like more information or have questions be sure to check with your local FSA office.
