Some farmers were able to get back into the field late last week. Here is a picture from the back window of my cab that was taken Sunday afternoon. The white tank in the front is carrying liquid fertilizer. It seemed easier to put the tank on the 3-point hitch rather than hanging saddle tanks on the side of the tractor. Plus, it is a lot easier to put on and take off The conditions in this field were pretty good although there were some wet spots. One agronomist told me that it "wasn't pretty" but a lot of corn was planted in Southern Minnesota last weekend. What he meant was there were areas of most fields that were wet but corn had to get planted because it's getting late in May. At lease this year those wet spots were firm and I did not worry about getting stuck like last year. Let's hope the forecast holds and we get the warm dry weather this week that they are talking about!
