Corn actually had a pretty good day Thursday, gaining 1-3 cents. Wheat was sharply higher and that probably supported corn, along with a weaker dollar. Looking at the forecast for the weekend, it doesn't look like farmers in the eastern and southern corn belt will get any more corn planted. With the calendar flipping to June next Wednesday, you have to think a lot of those unplanted corn acres will be switched to beans. The USDA announced this morning a sale of old crop corn to China. If China has all those corn stocks the USDA said they have, why are they importing corn?

Beans traded back and forth Thursday and, at one point, was up about 15 cents only to close 1-5 cents lower. Traders were sure talking about how weak the bean charts look now with a "key reversal" Thursday. However, with the fund action and all the money they have you cannot put to much weight on some of the technical indicators. So far today both corn and beans are drifting a little higher and lower. With the long weekend coming up it feels like everyone just wants to quit and go home!
