The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights travel to Goodhue on Thursday night for the Hiawatha Valley League opening match for both teams.

I'll be broadcasting the match on KDHL Radio 920AM, and you can listen online at kdhlradio.com or by downloading the free Radio Pup app on your favorite mobile device.

Kenyon-Wanamingo succumbed to Belle Plaine in their section title match in four sets last fall at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. It ended a very successful season that saw the Knights tally 20 wins.

Goodhue was upended by Rushford-Peterson in the first round of the East Subsection of Section 1 Class A in a five-set thriller.

Back for Goodhue are setter Michelle Hadler and outside hitter Kate Stehr, both seniors. Sophomore Sydney Lodermeier has the potential to excel in the sport

Kenyon-Wanamingo has a lot of talent back from last season, but will most definitely miss the efficiency of Megan Quam on the attack.

However, returning is junior Mara Quam, an outside hitter, and junior libero Kasey Dummer is fun to watch pursue balls and not just receive them in the back row. Setters Mia Peterson and Siri Quam are back also.

If we are on time, coverage will begin about 7PM. I wonder what they will be serving in the Gordy's Gourmet Award-winning concession stand.
