The Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation are accepting applications for Century Farms. The program was created to promote agriculture and honor historic family farms in Minnesota. The program began in 1976 and has honored more than 10,000 farms. There are only three requirements to be a Century Farm. The farm must be at least 100 years old according to official land records; in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years, (residence on the farm not required); and at least 50 acres.

Century Farms will receive a certificate signed by State Fair Board Manager President Sharon Wessel, Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap, and Gov. Mark Dayton, along with an outdoor sign signifying that the farm is a Century Farm. The application deadline is Monday, April 3. Applications are available online at mnstatefair.org or fbmn.org or at any County Extension or Farm Bureau office.
