It was great to see so many people at the Memorial Day parade and program at Central Park in Faribault today. I was concerned about the weather as it was drizzling when I got to the studio this morning. It's not that it hasn't rained on Memorial Day programs before, but it is always nice when the weather cooperates. About 9AM the drizzle stopped and we even saw peeks at the sun during the program.

KDHL News Director Gordy Kosfeld did a great job emceeing the program. Adrian and Jeanne Gillen were a great choice for Grand Marshals. Both served in the military. Jeanne was underage and had to get her parents' permission to enlist. Jeanne was a switchboard operator during World War II. Jeanne grew up in Morristown, had training in New York and served in California. How is that for culture shock for a small-town girl from Morristown. Adrian was a farmer; his family took care of the farm and livestock during his active duty. He actually proposed to Jeanne "after a few dates" in a letter when he was on active duty. On Memorial Day, thank you to all who served!
