Central Livestock’s Big John, Hatless

Saturday morning I was at the annual Goodhue County 4-H Livestock Auction. Of course Big John from Central Livestock was there. This was my 20th auction and Big John has been there every year, plus, I am sure, many before that. Big John was bidding and buying some of the premiums for Central Livestock. In addition Big John was buying for a number of other business and individuals that could not be there. I believe the term they use is order buying.

I did try to get Big John to buy me lunch or a malt at the Goodhue County Fair. That did not work too well, but I did get Big John to take his cowboy hat off. Have you ever seen Big John without his cowboy hat on? I wish I had as much hair on my head as Big John! Notice the white stripe on Big John's forehead? It sure shows what the cowboy hat covers.
