The Rice County Historical Society Museum is hosting a number of old time demonstrations during the fair this week. Kids were thoroughly enjoying themselves in the Scavenger Hunt Wednesday where they look for items at all the historical buildings on the fairgrounds
The new open class exhibit building officially became Gillen Hall after a ribbon cutting dedication on the opening night of the Rice County Fair in Faribault Tuesday night. Fair Board Executive Secretary John Dvorak told a good crowd on hand a 50 thousand dollar legacy grant from the state was matched by the county and then County Commissioner Jake Gillen told him he and his wife wanted to know if a 25 thousand dollar donation would allow them to place their name on the building
The 2014 Rice County Fair Queen was crowned during a pageant Tuesday on the Bruce Sellner Memorial Midway Stage. 18 year old Carrie Conrad is the daughter of Joe and Kathy Conrad of Faribault. The 2014 Faribault High School graduate was valedictorian of her class and will study accounting at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management

The 99th Cannon Valley Fair in Cannon Falls is enjoying the coolest temperatures in years at their event. The grounds were crowded with little people on day care day at the fair Wednesday. We took a few pictures at the Cockle Doodle Zoo
