Corn closed 5-7 cents lower today. When I get to the studio each morning about 4AM, the first thing I do is check the markets. Corn was only down 1-2 cents at that time. On the National News from ABC at 5, I heard the stock market in China was melting down and I knew the grains were going to have a tough day
In case you have not noticed, I really enjoy hosting the Birthday Club with John each morning about 7:50. I always tell people that it is dangerous to know the guy on the radio! Wholesale Tire in Morristown and Faribault sponsor the Birthday Club each Tuesday
Corn closed about unchanged today in a fairly quiet day of trading. It was pretty similar to the action last Thursday and Friday. It seems like corn is consolidating and trying to put in a low. Gordy has said many times on the air that grains very seldom bottom
It was a busy and fun day at the Minnesota State Fair. For a number of years I have been asked to be one of the announcers for the 4-H hog show. I would call the different classes to the staging area and announce the lineup in each class
After big daily ranges earlier in the week, it was fairly quiet in the corn market today as corn closed about unchanged. For the week corn only lost about 2 cents. December corn is now only about 10 cents a bushel below where it was trading going into the August USDA report
While many say the Minnesota State Fair began this morning, I argue it started last evening at 8:30 with the Princess Kay of the Milky Way Coronation. Twelve finalists from around the state were competing for the honor of representing the dairy industry in Minnesota
The Steele County 4-H Auction was held Saturday morning on the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna. Once again it was great to see so many business and individuals there supporting the Steele County 4-H Auction
Yesterday afternoon I went out to the farm, hooked up the stalk chopper and began chopping my sweet corn field. Last Saturday afternoon I got a call from my field man at Birds Eye Foods telling me they had to bypass my sweet corn
Corn was firmer in overnight trading but saw weakness right from the open this morning and closed 3-4 cents lower. The Dollar Index was down a lot Monday and did not seem to help support corn. Today the Dollar Index gained back about half of Monday's losses and that seemed to pressure corn
