On the heels of a Mexican vacation to commemorate six years of marriage with husband Mike Fisher, Carrie Underwood has reason to celebrate once again. The singer's most recent single, "Church Bells" has hit No. 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase country airplay charts this week.

"Church Bells" marks Underwood's 24th career No. 1 single and also the third consecutive No. 1 song from her most recent album, Storyteller. The song follows the success of previous singles "Heartbeat" and "Smoke Break."

The banjo-driven track was written by Zach Crowell, Brett James and Hillary Lindsey and tells the tale of a woman who gets revenge on her abusive husband. Meanwhile, the video for the song is a replica of Underwood’s nightly tour. Whether she’s on harmonica, acoustic guitar or simply running around the stage singing her songs, the excitement of her live show is evident throughout the nearly four-minute clip.

Crowell previously told Taste of Country, he had the song title in mind when he and his co-writers met to write.

“Oddly enough, I’m usually the music guy, but I’d had that title for a few weeks, and I’d looked on my calendar and thought that would be a cool Carrie Underwood thing, so I should wait to write that with Brett and Hillary,” Crowell explains. “I didn’t necessarily know how to write it; I just knew I had the title.”

Crowell had laid out a blueprint for the music track of the song, so by the time James and Lindsey came in, they flushed out the subject matter.

“I don’t know if I had ever written a song before where you have to kill off one of the people, and it was kind of fun. I remember kinda giggling, talking about, ‘Okay, how should we kill this guy?’” he recalls. “I remember sitting there saying, ‘Oh, this is kind of awesome, to think kind of like a Hollywood screenwriter would come up with something.”
