The Bombers Hangar was packed in Cannon Falls Friday night for a girls/boys doubleheader.  We broadcast the boys game on KDHL but I made sure I was there in time to watch the girls contest also.

The Goodhue girls pulled away in the final minutes to win 59-43 and the Bomber boys also pulled away in the closing minutes for a 51-42 victory.

In the boys game Cannon Falls had eight players score and Goodhue five.  The Bombers led by as many as eight points in the first half but saw the Wildcats whittle that lead to 25-23 at the half.

6'0 sophomore Drew Otte was hot from three point range early and scored 9 of his 11 points in the first half.  His minutes were limited in the second half due to a bruised shoulder injury suffered during the game.

5'11 junior Isaac Illa led the Bombers with 15 points, hitting a big three late in the game to get some distance from Goodhue in what was previously a back and forth second half.

Cannon Falls also hit their free throws going 6 of 7 for the game while Goodhue struggled going 6 for 14 from the charity stripe.

The Wildcats were led by 6'3 sophomore Sam Opsahl with 16 points and 6'3 senior Mitchell Heminway tallied 11 points.

Cannon Falls is now 5-6 in the conference and 9-11 overall and Goodhue falls to 5-7 in the league and 10-12 overall.

The girls game was a bit sloppy with a total of nearly 40 turnovers in the game and the winning Goodhue team had 17 of them.

The Wildcats are typically a very good free throw shooting team but they weren't Friday night in the Bomber's Hangar, going 8 of 15.

Cannon Falls was 9 of 13 from the free throw line.

Goodhue saw Cannon Falls go on a run to cut their lead from double digits to 30-22 at the half.  With 8:24 to go in the game the Bombers missed a wide open layup that would have cut the deficit to 5 and Goodhue scored a three point play on their offensive end of the floor.

From that point on Goodhue converted some turnovers into points to score the 16 point victory.

Goodhue was led by Arianna Thomforde's 18 points and Sydney Lodermeier added 16.

Cannon Falls Kaly Banks had 16 points and Tatum Pickar added 10.

Goodhue is at #1 Class A Lyle/Pacelli this afternoon and we will be broadcasting on KDHL.  Coverage begins 2:45 p.m. if the previous games conclude on time.
