Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen and K-9 handler Officer Mike Thul will be stopping by KDHL today to talk about the department getting another K-9. I don't think present K-9 Chase will be joining us.

The Faribault Police Department has been conducting a fundraiser for the purchase and training of the new K-9. We will find out how that fundraiser has been going and talk more about what the K-9 does in assisting Faribault Police in doing their jobs.

The fundraiser has been the sale of K-9 Chase stuffed toys for $30. The proceeds are going toward his required equipment and the special vehicle that's needed.

Each of the 8-inch limited edition K-9 Chase toys features his name, an American flag collar tag, the Faribault Police Department patch, and a collar displaying the owner as a "K-9 Supporter." The ear tag also displays a picture of the real K-9 Chase.

The new K-9 will be handled by Officer Adam Marvin and he is asking for assistance in naming his new partner. Each $30 donation to the Faribault Police Department K-9 Unit gets donors a stuffed K-9 Chase and an entry into the drawing to name the new K-9.

After Marvin picks up his new partner, Bohlen says they will select a submitted name from the bucket and have special meet and greet for pictures with the new K-9 that you may have named.
