The Minnesota Dairy Research and Promotion Council needs candidates to run for board positions in 11 districts. Board members are elected by dairy farmers in their district and direct how dairy farmers check-off funds are spent. Check-off funds can be invested in three broad categories  research, education and promotion. Candidates should be active dairy farmers who are informed members of their communities and interested in dairy check-off programs. The deadline to contact local nominating chairs is September 20, 2017.

After the nomination deadline the list of candidates will be available by contacting the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Call Ruth White 651-201-6494. Election ballots will be mailed to all dairy farmers in Minnesota later in December. The nominating chair for the counties of Rice, Scott, Dakota and Le Sueur is Nate Kuball. Jon Schmidt is the nomination chair for the counties of Faribault, Blue earth, Martin, Steele, Waseca, Freeborn and Watonwan Counties.
