On Saturday, April 30, the Faribault Diversity Coalition will be celebrating the Cambodian New Year at the Faribault Knights of Columbus. All are invited to attend this celebration.

The event will celebrate Cambodian heritage and will be from 7PM to midnight at the Faribault Knights of Columbus Hall at 17 Third St. N.E., Faribault. The cost to attend is $10 and appetizers and beverages will be available. The evening includes a Pestle dance, classic folk dance, scarf dance, coconut dance, Hennessey toast to band, One Man Band, and a special performance by the Cambodian Culture Club.

The Faribault Diversity Coalition began in 1995 with the goals of greeting new residents to the community as well as celebrating diversity. In the early '80s, Minnesota saw an increase of Cambodian refugees, some of whom made Faribault their home. As of the 2010 census, there are 9,543 Cambonians living within Minnesota.
