The Byron Bears aren't making a return trip to the state boys basketball tournament.  The Caledonia Warriors prevailed Thursday night 59-44 in what was a very close game until late.  It was a single digit game with under four minutes t go, but Byron had to foul and boy did the Warriors hit their free throws 17 of 18 on the night.  Byron was 0 for 2.  Caledonia led by a 26-22 score at the half.  The Bears controlled tempo, they just couldn't hit shots down the stretch.  Senior Joe Smith led them with 10 points.  Caledonia had four players in double figures led by Senior Josh Nord with 13, Sophmore Colton Lampert had 12 off the bench and Juniors Austin Bauer and Kyle Sorenson added 10 each.  Caledonia is now 27-2 and Byron ends their season 22-9.  Bear Head Coach Kerry Linbo told KDHL following the game his team just didn't get to the line enough and he was proud of his team's third straight appearance in the Section Final game.  Byron was Gold Division and overall Hiawatha Valley League Champions.  Seeding for the state tournament is Sunday.

In the most recent Minnesota Basketball News coaches poll Caledonia was rated #8 in Class 2A.  If they were to get a top seed they would play Wednesday night at 6 at teh Tartget Center, a 4 or 5 seed at 8 Wednesday night at Target Center, a 2 seed 6pm Wednesday evening at Williams Arena and a 3 seed Wednesday night at 8pm at Williams.
