Busy Day at the Minnesota State Fair

Last Friday I headed up to the Minnesota State Fair. For a number of years I have been asked to be the announcer at the Minnesota State Fair 4-H Swine Show. There are two judging rings one for gilts and the other for barrels. There is just one public address system so you share it with the other ring. You call the different classes to the staging area and announce the placeings after the judge explains the reasons for each class.

I always assume it is a compliment if I announce or M C an event and then get asked back the next year! That, or maybe they just cannot find anyone else that will do it! Either way it is still fun to go to the Minnesota State Fair and feel like you are helping out the 4-H program and the kids! The judging was scheduled to start at 8:30 but was delayed until after 9:00 because the judge was tied up in traffic trying to get to the fair. You can see from some of the pictures in the gallery it was a beautiful day and a lot of people were at the fair.
