The Dakota Rice County Corn and Soybean Growers and the Cannon River Watershed Partnership will be sponsoring a Buffer Proposal Forum on Monday, April 6, from 1:30-4 p.m. The forum will be held at Legvold Farms, 5103 315th St. W., Northfield. On March 9, 2015, a bill was introduced to the Minnesota Legislature regarding buffers in Minnesota. The proposal is intended to result in more protection of our waters from runoff and increase wildlife habitat.

There are many questions and concerns about the proposal, as well as ideas on how it might be modified. Gov. Mark Dayton is planning on attending to hear from farmers and land owners about his proposal. Rep. David Bly will also be there. Space is limited, so if you would like to attend, call (507) 786-3916 or email Kristi at Kristi@crwp.net. The agenda includes an overview on the proposal, panel presentation and plenty of time for audience input and suggestions. There will also be an opportunity to view a riparian buffer.
