The Mankato East Cougars are co-champions of the MSHSL Class AA boys State High School Golf Tournament.

The Cougars and Blake tied for the title with two-day totals of 602. Section 1 representative Triton finished fifth out of the eight teams competing, 27 strokes from the leaders.

Blake sophomore Reece Sanders earned medalist honors with a 138, four strokes better than sophomore Paul Stankey of Providence Academy and seven strokes better than Mankato East junior Carter Haley. Triton's Jaden Thiemann finished with a 147 and the junior finished tied for seventh place. Kasson-Mantorville senior Keagan Kochie came into the final day Wednesday at the Ridges at Sand Creek golf course in Jordan just one stroke out of first place but finished ninth with a 148. Cobra senior Zach Otto tied for 19th with a 151. Lake City freshmen Paker Schurhammer and Brennan Rothgarn were 24th and 30th, respectively. Cannon Falls junior Matt Moskal carded a 154 and finished in a tie for 33rd.

In the Class AAA boys tournament at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids, Wayzata picked up the state team title with a 607 and finished three strokes in front of 2014 champion Edina. Section 1 representative Lakeville South was in third place, five strokes out of first. Moorhead senior Dane Sethre-Hofstad earned medalist honors by one stroke over Owatonna senior Peter Jones 143 to 144. Sethre-Hofstad shot a 69 after his 74 on Tuesday and Jones followed up a 71 on Tuesday with a 73 on Wednesday.

Lakeville South's low score was turned in by junior Trey Sheehan with a 149. Cougar junior Noah Rasinski was tied in 14th with a 155.

The Class A championship at Pebble Creek in Becker had Mounds Park Academy run away from the competition with a 12-stroke victory. Their 622 was ahead of Mahnomen/Waubun. Gopher Conference champion United South Central finished sixth and Section 1 representative Fillmore Central was eighth out of the eight teams competing.

United South Central junior Ryan Pederson tied with Mounds Park Academy freshman Brock Bliese for medalist of the meet with the low score of 146. Hayfield senior Brady Becker finished his high school career tied in 24th place, and fellow Viking junior Aaron Anderson was 69th. Junior Zach Monshaugen of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton carded a 36-hole total of 172, good enough for 56th place.
