The defending state champion Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals rolled over No. 5 seed Lyle/Pacelli Athletics in the West Subsection semifinals Saturday in Rochester.

Every player hit the sport court in the lopsided affair. Set scores were 25-12, 25-9 and 25-13.

That, my friends, is dominance.

Bethany Boelter joined our broadcast and assisted in choosing our Faribault State Farm players of the match courtesy of State Farm Agents Jason Krohn and Tony Langerud.

Payton Nutter and Hannah Robb were the choices. Robb served particularly well in the first set and Nutter was her usual all-around self.

It's also fun to see Shelby Meyer get more involved in the attack for the Cardinals, making it more difficult to key on any specific player.

After the Cardinal match, which started nearly an hour late, Hayfield defeated Medford in three sets.

The No. 2 seed Vikings will play the top seed Cardinals on Thursday in Rochester for the West Subsection championship.

In the East Subsection, top seed Mabel-Canton will play No. 2 seed Caledonia on Thursday after the Bethlehem Academy and Hayfield match.

Mabel-Canton downed Rushford-Peterson in four sets and Caledonia beat No. 6 seed Fillmore Central in four sets.

The Bethlehem Academy match will be at 6PM Thursday.
