The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals clubbed 12 hits and Kenyon-Wanamingo had eight hits in a 7-1 Cardinal win over the Knights on Tuesday night in Wanamingo.

Junior Shelby Meyer was the winning pitcher and also had another great day at the plate.

Meyer had a two-run homer in the first inning, RBI double in the second inning and an RBI single in the sixth inning to lead Bethlehem Academy at the plate.

Meyer threw 88 pitches, 61 strikes, in her seven innings of work and struck out five while walking just one batter.

Junior Brandi Remold threw for Kenyon-Wanamingo and did not walk or strike out a single batter.

Remold threw 96 pitches and 70 were strikes; 26 first-pitch strikes were delivered to 35 batters. Remold also had a good day at the plate for the Knights with a pair of hits, including a double.

After Meyer's 200-foot homer to left center gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Meyer's double following three singles in the second by Delaney Donahue, Tess Glenzinski and Jess Oathoudt gave Bethlehem Academy a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second Kenyon-Wanamingo would score their only run of the game.

Sara Sahl opened the inning with a single and went to second on a dribbler down the third base line off the bat of Shelby Clawiter. Sahl would score on a Cardinal error off the bat of Kayla Knott.

Remold had a bunt single to start the fifth inning and would be sacrificed to second and then was thrown out trying to steal third base.

Junior Shelby Clawiter had two hits, including a double for Kenyon-Wanamingo.

Meyer and Tess Glenzinski were our Faribault State Farm insurance Agency Faribault players of the game courtesy of Faribault State Farm Agents Jason Krohn and Tony Langerud.

Glenzinki was at the top of the order and was on base three of the four times she came to the plate. The sophomore also made a couple of nice running catches in the gaps to right and left centerfield.

In addition to Meyer and Glenzinski's day at the plate, Oathoudt had two hits for the Cardinals.

The line totals were Bethlehem Academy with seven runs on 12 hits and one error. Kenyon-Wanamingo had one run on eight hits and committed three errors.

The Knights are at Cannon Falls on Thursday while the Cardinals host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

The Faribault Falcon softball team fell to Mankato East 9-3 and the Mankato East baseball squad ran away from the Falcons 10-0.

In girls golf, Red Wing shot a 302 while Faribault carded a 452.

The Wingers Stephanie Herzog was medalist with a 70 and two other Red Wing golfers broke 80 and the other posted a 84.

Faribault's low score came from Hannah Bokelmann with a 99.

Casey Gillen had a 108, Rachel Bostwick a 115 and Morgan Albers a 130 for the Falcons.

The Faribault Falcon boys tennis team had their most competitive match of the season falling to Austin 5-2.

Wins were recorded by No. 1 singles player Nick Anderson 6-1, 6-3, and No. 4 singles Jose "Aia" Lopez picked up his first varsity win 6-2, 7-6.

The Falcons host Owatonna at 4:30PM Friday.

The Faribault Falcon boys track team hosted a triangular meet with Mankato West and Northfield at Ted Nelson Track in Faribault on Tuesday night.

Mankato West won with 86 points, Faribault had 51.5 and Northfield 48.5.

Falcon junior Felipe Ramirez won the shot put and discus.

Junior Adam Tuma captured the 1,600 meter run.

Senior Travis Wegner was tops in the 800 meter run.

The Falcon 4x400 meter relay was first.

Junior Tate Olson placed first in the Pole Vault at 12 feet, 7 inches.

Northfield firsts included senior Cooper Soulak in the triple jump, sophomore Benjamin Palmquist in the 110 meter hurdles and junior Benjamin Mohlkie in the 400 meter dash.

Official dedication of the Ted Nelson track is scheduled for Thursday just before the 4:30PM meet.
