Bethlehem Academy Drops Volleyball Opener

The Lakeville North Panthers showed everyone in Van Orsow Auditorium at Faribault Bethlehem Academy on Tuesday night why they are the No. 3-rated team in Class 3A.

Early in the match the Cardinals looked every bit the No. 4-ranked Class A team after jumping out to a 5-1 lead.

Lakeville North found their passing game and Bethlehem Academy struggled in that phase of the game. Without good passing you typically are not going to win.

The Panthers cruised to a 25-17, 25-12, 25-14 win.

Lakeville North swept Wayzata last week, so they are 2-0 to start the season and have not dropped a set.

The Cardinals were without two starters due to early season injuries, so head coach Franz Boelter was positive in defeat noting his team played very well at times.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault player of the match was senior setter Jessica Oathoudt, the most consistent Cardinal on the court. Oathhoudt had 13 assists and a couple of ace serves. Laney Donahue lead the team in kills with 9.

Bethlehem Academy goes to Marshall on Thursday and will still be without the services of two starters.

Lakeville North put on a passing and setting clinic and when those two parts of the game are going well then success is bound to follow.
