The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal boys golf team will be playing Monday in the final round of the Section 1A tournament thanks to a fourth-place finish Wednesday. The conditions were perfect and the golfers took advantage at Willow Creek Golf Course in Rochester.

The Cardinals took fourth place by one stroke over Rushford-Peterson to advance to the second day of competition.

Bethlehem Academy's Khrystjan Peterson was one stroke away from medalist honors, finishing second among individuals with a 76. Medalist was Tommy Braaten of Blooming Prairie with a 75 and Lucas Noble, also from the Awesome Blossoms, shot a 81,which placed him third.

Blooming Prairie had the low team score with a 348. Five of the six golfers broke 100 for the Awesome Blossoms.

Bethlehem Academy team score was 383. Other scores for Cardinal golfers included Tanner Jandro 98, Brody Pavel 114, Eiliott Smith 101 and Grant Tonjum 108.

The other teams advancing included Fillmore Central and Lewiston-Altura.

On the girls side, Fillmore Central ran away from the competition with a 358 in the first round with the three lowest scores. Lewiston-Altura and Rushford-Peterson were the other two teams to advance to Monday's second round.

The Falcons were 30 strokes lower than Caledonia.

Medalist was Grace Millerr with an 82, Madison Scheevel finished second with an 86, and Tayah Barnes was third with an 89.

Bethlehem Academy didn't field a team.
