On a day when the Minnesota Twins professional baseball team took nearly six hours to complete their season opener, the Bethlehem Academy game at New Richland lasted about 90 minutes.

It was a pitchers' duel, with the Cardinals winning 2-0 behind Anthony Van Thomme's complete game seven-hit shutout.

Van Thomme threw 91 pitches, according to Bethlehem Academy head coach Scott Hanson, and his team made the most of their four hits, with Brendan Trump and Jackson Andersen getting the hits to plate the runs for the Cards in the seventh.

Dempsey Tucker had the tough-luck loss for the Panthers while tossing a four-hitter.
