Beat the Snow Day Blues With These Fun Ideas

Snow days. They are a kid's dream and a parent's nightmare. How can you fill all the hours of the day without stuffing your children head first into the nearest snow bank?

A quick Google search of "snow day activities" pulled up about 18.8 million results. Reading all those pages of ideas could easily fill your snow day, but wouldn't you rather be having fun than reading about having fun?

I also wondered which months in Minnesota tend to bring us the most snow, and Mike Griesinger with the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen was happy to share some snow facts.

While our biggest snow storms, those sometimes dropping double-digit amounts of snow in one shot, tend to fall at the beginning and end of winter (November/December and March), Griesinger said December and January tend to be our overall snowiest months. But, because of lower temperatures, January storms tend to drop smaller amounts of snow. And, here's some news to look forward to: February tends to be a bit of a winter lull for snowfall.
