The State Amateur Baseball Tournament opens next Friday in Belle Plaine and Jordan and some area teams will be participating.  The Cannon Falls Bears defeated Waterville Saturday 3-1 to punch their ticket and then were defeated 4-2 by Hampton to give the Bears the third seed out of  Region 4C.  Cannon Falls plays Nisswa Saturday at 11am in Belle Plaine.  Hampton tangles with Blue Earth for the Region Title Sunday afternoon in Cannon Falls.  The Champ opens State action in Belle Plaine on August 22 at 7:30pm and the runnerup opens play August 16 at 1:30pm against Fairmont.   In Region 5C action the Wanamingo Jacks downed Stewartville-Racine 2-1 in 10 innings and had a thriller with Owatonna.  It was 2-2 in the 8th inning before the Aces prevailed 5-2.  Just two teams out of the Region make it to state.  Owatonna collides with Waseca today for the Region 5C Title.   Winner plays on August 23 at 11am in Jordan and the loser 7:30pm in Jordan Saturday, August 16.  The Faribault Lakers and St. Patrick Irish play for the Region 3C title at noon in Faribault Sunday.  The Champ opens their State in Belle Plaine on Sunday, August 24 at 7:30am against the winner of Luverne and Delano who play Sunday, August 17 in Jordan at noon.  The runnerup opens at State on August 16 at 1:30pm in Belle Plaine against Richmond.
