I’ve lived in Faribault my entire life but my wife and I enjoy traveling all around Minnesota as well as the surrounding states. When I’m not at work I’m usually spending time with my grandchildren and my grown children. I enjoy going to watch the Vikings, especially at US Bank Stadium, concerts, taking my wife to various musicals and going out to eat… I really enjoy that, as my bathroom scale can attest. I love music and spend a lot of time on the weekends looking for CDs of big hair bands that I don’t currently have in my collection.

Photo Ops for You at the Rice County Fair
One of the little touches that make the Rice County Fair, in Faribault, a fun place to spend a summer afternoon or evening are all the photo opportunities placed throughout the fair - great places to have the kids sit and take a picture of them or where you and friends can take a group selfie...

Fun at the Waseca County Fair
Friday night's weather was perfect for a evening at the Waseca County Fair in Waseca. The parking lot was filling up fast when we arrived around 6:30PM, so we parked about a block down the street. Once we got there I found out why the lot was so full...

Just when you think nothing could be better than National Strawberry Rhubarb Wine Day, which is Saturday, July 15, you find out Sunday, July 16 is National Ice Cream Day. Why hasn't this day been elevated to holiday status yet? Shut down all the stores except the ice cream places, so everyone can enjoy an ice cold dairy treat without any distractions...

Along with a select group of other fine cities to retire to including Galveston, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Springfield, Massachusetts; and others, it's easy to see why the site that hosts the Defeat of Jesse James Days each year was chosen...

I took a tour of The River Church today and this unexpected event turned what I expected to be just another non-eventful Friday into a nice day. I initially was stopping by to check out their yard sale in front of the old Sacred Heart rectory...
It’s National Fried Chicken Day
Just when I thought today was just going to be another run of the mill kind of Thursday, I discovered that it's actually National Fried Chicken Day. I love fried chicken so this is my kind of day. I'll be able to celebrate this day at one of the many restaurants here in town, unlike yesterday, which was National Bikini Day...

The weather turned out better than expected and hopefully everyone was able to take part in their planned outdoor activities and gatherings with family and friends. This year my wife and I ventured over to Waseca to spend the afternoon and evening with my oldest son, his wife and my grandsons...
