Owatonna police, with the assistance of several agencies, have made an arrest in a Sunday shooting that left an Owatonna man with a gunshot wound.

The Owatonna police announce that an arrest was made Monday morning in Mankato of a suspect from Sunday's shooting that left 26-year-old Vincent Johnny of Owatonna with a gunshot wound to his hand.

Police made a probable cause arrest of 18-year-old Ray Dominick Cabrera on Monday about 11AM in Mankato, according to the news release. Cabrera was apprehended at an apartment complex where he was hiding. The arrest was a joint effort of the Owatonna Police Department, the South Central Drug Investigative Unit and the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force.

A search of the apartment turned up a 9mm firearm that matched the description of the firearm used in Sunday's shooting in Owatonna. The weapon will undergo forensic tests at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension laboratory. Cabrera is being held at the Steele County Detention Center and could face formal charges Wednesday.

The initial news release from the Owatonna Police Department indicated that witnesses reported two suspects in the shooting which occurred at the Downtowner Apartments in the 400 block of North Cedar Avenue in Owatonna.
