A number of KDHL and Power 96 Radio area big schools have qualifiers for the Minnesota High School Track and Field boys and girls meets this Friday and Saturday. Competition will be at Hamline University in St. Paul.

In girls Class AA competition:

Two Farmington Tigers are competing in the 1600 meter run. Freshman Lauren Peterson and seventh-grader Anna Fenske

Senior Olivia Anger participates from Apple Valley.

The defending champion is back in the field. Bethany Hasz of Alexandria is one of only two qualifiers to break five minutes.

In the 4x800 meter relay, Waseca has an all-underclassmen relay with eighth-grader Lexi Herman, freshmen Abbe Dufault and Ana McCabe, and junior Kourtney Kulseth. Lakeville North's team of eighth-grader Ella Larson, senior Brooke Anderson, junior Emma Drangstveit and sophomore Danielle Bellino is seeded seventh in its heat.

Rochester Century senior Andrianna Jacobs is one of two girls to clear 12 feet in the pole vault.

Other qualifiers include Mankato West junior Chelsea Schaffer and Austin sophomore Sydney Marsh.

Mankato East has two girls competing in the triple jump. Sophomore Jennifer Vetter and senior Emily Altenburg are in the same heat.

Red Wing sophomore Madisyn Lyons is another Big Nine Conference athlete at the state meet.

 

A state record could fall in the 100-meter dash. Chanhassen senior Jedah Caldwell has run a time of 11.70 and the all-time Minnesota record is 11.71, held by Taylor Anderson of Hopkins, set in 2012. Caldwell is the defending champion and her winning time last year was 12.16. Running in the same heat in the preliminaries is Farmington junior Emma Record and Northfield junior Mya Jirik, with times of 12.56 and 12.37 respectively.

Mankato East senior Emily Altenburg and Owatonna sophomore Sydney Schultz are also competing in the 100-meter dash.

Caldwell is also the defending 200-meter dash champion and has the fastest time in that field.

In the 400-meter dash, New Prague junior Josie Herrmann, Rochester Century junior Katherine Eidem and Austin junior Odongonga Oballa will be in the race.

In the 800-meter run, Lakeville North eighth-grader Ella Larson and Owatonna freshman Syd Krelow qualified.

Farmington seventh-grader Anna Fenske and Austin senior Madison Overby are competing in the 3,200-meter run.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Waseca freshman Madison Gehloff, Austin senior Rachel Quandt and Lakeville South senior Jocie Johnson are in the field.

Johnson is also competing in the 300-meter hurdles along with Mankato West junior Erica Benson and Rochester Mayo senior Allison Dobie.

In the 4x100 meter relay, Lakeville South sophomores Kyah Orr and Sydney Klausler are joined by junior Lillian Terry-Ohland and senior Abby Mullenbach. Owatonna senior Steph Kretlow is joined by sophomores Sydney Schultz and Margo Achterkirch and junior Karissa Gregory. Mankato East has the fastest seed time and their team consists of seniors Emily Altenburg and Hanna Shank, sophomore Jennifer Vetter and junior Emma Baynes.

Owatonna's 4x200 meter relay is also at state and includes sophomores Sydney Schultz and Margo Achterkirch, senior Steph Kretlow and junior Karissa Gregory. Lakeville South juniors Jenny Mosser and Lillian Terry-Ohland and seniors Haley Lubow and Abby Mullenbach are also in the field.

In the 4x400 meter relay, Rochester Century sophomores Lauren Nee and Katherine Dougherty are joined by freshman Ellie Luinenberg and junior Katherin Eidem. Lakeville South seniors Haley Lubow and Jocie Johnson are joined by junior Jenny Mosser and eighth-grader Olivia Hansen.

Mankato West junior Erica Benson has the second-highest mark in the high jump and is joined in the field by fellow Big NIne competitor Katherine Eidem of Rochester Century, teammate Mankato West sophomore Aliyah Dawkins and Lakeville South's Jocie Johnson.

In the long jump, Lakeville North basketball player junior Temi Carda is in the field with the fifth-longest jump of the season. Emily Altenburg of Mankato East has the second-best leap and her teammate Jennifer Vetter is fourth best.

 

Rochester John Marshall senior Nicole Fautsch has the second-best discus throw of the season and it's still seven feet behind a junior from St. Francis. Also competing in the discus are Lakeville South senior Jaimie McNamee and sophomore Carissa Shank of Mankato East.

Area competitors in the Boys AA Meet include:

In the 3,200-meter run, Waseca junior Cole Streich, Rochester Century senior Seth Massot and Century junior Antonio Judson-Red Elk are in the field.

In the 110-meter hurdles, defending champion from St. Paul Como Park is back and will be challenged by Owatonna senior Jacob Johnson, Mankato West senior Chris Olsen and Lakeville North junior Evan El-Halawani.

Senior John Marshall football player Cazz Martin participates in the 100-meter dash and is joined by teammate junior Shahan Ameen and Lakeville South junior Ethan Buckles and sophomore Jeremiah Jacobsen.

Martin is also on the John Marshall 4x200 meter relay with Ameen and sophomore Bernard Charles and senior Riley Schreader. Mankato East juniors Desmond Bassett, Isaiah Baynes and Roderick Miller are joined by senior Ben Schwartz. Lakeville North's relay consists of juniors Wade Sullivan, Evan Erickson and Alexander Hunter and senior Patrick Koss.

In the 4x100 meter relay, Lakeville South sophomores Logan Gudmundson and Jeremiah Jacobson are joined by junior Mitchell Jacobson and senior Clayton Geary. Mankato East juniors Desmond Bassett, Isaiah Baynes and Jacob Baynes are joined by senior Ben Schwartz. Rochester John Marshall sophomores Bernard Charles and Dane Stearns are joined by junior Shahan Ameen and senior Cazz Martin.

Farrmington senior Devon Webb qualified in the 400-meter dash along with Owatonna senior Nick Raichle and Mankato East junior Roderick Miller.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Owatonna senior Jacob Johnson and Lakeville North junior Evan El-Halawani are competing.

In the 800-meter run, Rochester Mayo senior Chad Couser is in the field.

The 200-meter dash features Lakeville South sophomore Jeremiah Johnson and teammate junior Cedric Sanford.

In the 4x400 meter relay, Mankato East juniors Roderick Miller, Jacob Baynes and Desmond Bassett compete with senior Ben Schwartz. Owatonna seniors Ryan Guenther, Mick Raichle and Jacob Johnson are joined by junior Jaden Dowhaniuk.

In the triple jump field are Rochester Century senior Bennett Robella, New Prague senior Mitchell Delbow and Austin junior Jany Gash.

Faribault junior Tate Olson has the highest pole vault seed mark in the field with a school record 14 feet, 6 inches. New Prague senior Alex Torp has cleared 14 feet, 3 inches and Lakeville South junior Noah Shafer and Mankato West senior Colter Killion have cleared 13 feet, 9 inches.

Area shot put qualifiers include Lakeville South junior Eric Rousemiller and senior Logan Swanson of Mankato East.

Northfield junior August Foss and Lakeville South sophomore Marquis Tonsager are in the same flight in the long jump.

Rochester Century senior teammates Elijah Anderson and Bennett Robelia are 5 inches behind the best mark in the high jump and Waseca senior Elijah Carter is just 1 inch in back

Farmington seniors Alexander Hart, Ben Sorenson and Ryan Newton are joined by sophomore Jaryn Newbrough in the 4x800 meter relay.

Faribault junior Adam Tuma competes in the 1,600-meter run along with Waseca junior Cole Streich.

Rochester John Marshall senior Emmanuel Jada and Lakeville South junior Eric Rousemiller qualified to compete in the discus throw.

The forecast calls for temperatures in the 90s with high humidity. Not exactly ideal conditions.
